Aravinda Charitable Society which has been continuing its operations in Pallickathodu for more than a quarter of a century and garnering the goodwill and blessings of the general population has now launched Punarjani, an old age home. Punarjani aims at providing quality care for the elderly mothers in our society who often find themselves thrown aside and abandoned by the society around them.

Empty street-walks and the corridors of temples often end up as the only shelters for these mothers who had long ago abandoned all their hopes and now attempts to live out the rest of their lives in these desolate environments. We, the hypocritical devotees often walk past these desolate figures chanting obscure mantras and conveniently ignoring the misery and hopelessness staring at us in the face. India is a land of spiritual traditions and our culture has always scoffed at the particular brand of spirituality that ridicules human misery and makes appeals towards a glorious after life in heavens. Ours is the land of Swami Vivekananda who raised the slogan "Service to God is service to man " and defiantly proclaimed his disbelief in a religion or God which neglects the misery of an orphan or ignores the tears of a widow. Our mission is not about changing the world but the much more modest task of rehabilitating 20 elderly mothers and providing them with quality care. With the help of a number of kind and well meaning individuals, we have arranged two and a half acres of land and a building within the premises for the operation of Punarjani, old age home. This old age home which runs completely free of charge for its inmates requires approximately one and a half lakh rupees per month. You all have the opportunity to be part of this noble venture by donating five thousand rupees per year or making a single contribution of one lakh rupees for lifetime. In our short lives, we have only limited opportunities to care for our fellow beings and this is one such opportunity. We sincerely hope and wish for your contribution in this venture.
